Sustainability

At JL Productions & Hire, we believe that the difference between good and great event design is careful consideration of each and every detail. It is the little things that combine to make a big impression. From the type of fabric, colour, and pattern selected to make the perfect table setting, to the number of lanterns strung from a tree, these precise choices matter. With so much detail to consider, the amount of “stuff” used to style a wedding or deliver a music festival is huge. Deliberate design allows us to uniquely style and deliver events of substance, but it also allows space to operate with integrity, making choices, and offering services that align with the respect we hold for this beautiful planet we call home.

There must be a better way to make the things we want, a way that doesn’t spoil the sky, or the rain or the land.
— Paul McCartney

We agree with Sir Paul! This is why we operate and design by four sustainability principals to ensure that through intelligent, creative solutions we deliver not only beautiful, but also environmentally-responsible events.

REPURPOSE

We will give things a new life. From long forgotten tablecloths found in a country op-shop, to rusty old garden gates, we will breathe life into ANYTHING, giving discarded belongings beautiful new beginnings.

RETHINK

We will not get stuck in old ways of thinking. Leaving space for creative reinvention, through considered design, items once used for this are now used for that, and strategies employed yesterday have the freedom to be different tomorrow.

REUSE

If we use it once, we will use it again. Whether it be old signage now used to keep our hire items safe while out on the truck for deliveries, or a floral arrangement that’s been dried out and passed on for reuse, we will find a way to make sure everything we use is used again.

REDUCE

The best way to lower consumption is to consume less. JL Productions & Hire is committed to reducing our collective footprint by:

  • Offering affordable pricing, removing the barrier to entry for people considering hiring goods, and decreasing the need for single use purchasing.

  • Committing to ongoing education and training around sustainable practices.

  • Engaging external services who further promote green event design.
